pH Revision Resurfacing Treatment Program
What is resurfacing?
Resurfacing is generally carried out when there is an abundance of accumulated cell material that makes the tissue on the surface of the skin look dull, thickened and lack lustre. An accumulation of dead cell material may also exacerbate the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pores and may also contribute to scarring becoming more prominent.
Resurfacing is required when we want to remove the cell material to reveal a fresh, radiant skin, allowing the natural functions of the skin to be rebalanced, strengthening and rebuilding the skin from within.
What is DMK pH Revision for resurfacing and how does it work?
DMK Alkaline Wash is created with an alkaline powder that is mixed into a paste and applied to the required area for a short period of time. The solution has a higher pH than that of the skin and contains unique buffers that aim to reduce irritation of the skin. The Alkaline Wash solution will attach itself to the protein of hair and skin and will soften, swell and dissolve both hair and skin to the desired result. Your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist will gradually apply the solution to the skin to enhance the depth of exfoliation. The effect of the solution is monitored by your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist and the solution will be removed at the appropriate time.
After the first DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment hair will grow back and may feel stubbly as the Alkaline Wash will have started to dissolve the hair. You may also experience a breakout and mild scabbing if there is any trapped sebum underneath. The initial appearance of the skin observed is of a shiny nature which can also feel slippery. The skin may also exhibit a pink colouring. The texture of the skin will also improve over the series of DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatments.
What you should feel?
You will feel a cold sensation upon application of the Alkaline Wash. The area being treated will be kept moist until the Alkaline Wash is ready to be removed. You should feel a mild tenderness and mild stinging of the skin at this stage. This is to be expected. A neutraliser will be applied and immediately after ice will be applied to flush the neutraliser through the skin and reduce inflammation. The application melanin inhibiting and calming drops will follow, along with Actrol Powder and Enzyme Therapy. You may feel stinging and the skin may feel tender which is to be expected. This will subside quickly. A combination of amino acids, vitamins and mineral and anti-inflammatory serums and crèmes will be applied to restore the pH of the skin and to support the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment and the results.
What to expect?
The skin will feel rubbery and slippery. You may also experience some tingling with the application of the DMK serums and crèmes after the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment. This is to be expected and is normal. You may also experience some post-treatment sensations, which are common with your first DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment and will not pose any long-term issues as long as you adhere to your full DMK Home Prescriptive program.
The DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment may not feel pleasant but is pain free, however in some cases, usually after the initial DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment before the skin has adjusted to Alkaline Wash, you may experience some redness or dryness of the skin. You may also experience some superficial scabs, although this usually occurs when the hair is very coarse and the Alkaline Wash solution may need to be left on the skin for a longer period. Any scabs will heal naturally as long as they are not scratched or picked.
As with any product applied topically, it is possible that some people may experience an adverse reaction. While Alkaline Wash is usually accompanied by minimum discomfort you may also experience the following:
- Redness and a slight sandpaper effect on the skin.
- Peeling proceeded by a crusty hardness to the skin’s surface.
- Irritation around the eyes and the mouth area and at times on the chin.
- An outbreak of pimples and other impurities that were already present within the skin.
- A slight burning sensation or “sunburn” sensation in the early stages of the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment.
- An irritated, open lesion that may weep and then scab and heal normally. If you experience this you must notify your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist so they can prescribe an appropriate course of DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatments.
- Pigmentation lesions may take on a darker appearance, however this is an expected outcome of the process used to reduce the pigmentation.
Caution should be used if treating skin with a naturally darker pigmentation. Your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist will advise if there is an alternative DMK Professional Skin Revision Program, or if your skin is not suitable for this DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment.
